Raeda Saadeh
Photographer, installation- and performance artist Raeda Saadeh was born in 1977 in Umm Al-Fahem, Palestine and studied and received her BFA and MFA from Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem. She also spent one year as an exchange student at the School of Visual Arts in New York. She lives and works in Jerusalem.
She has participated in several group shows in Europe and the Middle East, including, most recently, “Washed Out”, Konsthall C, Hökarängen, Sweden (2011); "Arabicity: Such a Near East", Bluecoat Arts Centre, Liverpool (2010); a solo performance at the Adelaide International Festival of Art, Australia (2010); “Rêve et Réalité: Art Contemporain du Proche-Orient”, Zentrum Paul Klee, Bern, Switzerland (2009); “Palestine: Creativity in all its States”, at the Bahrain National Museum, Manama and Institut du Monde Arabe, Paris (2009); the Summer Show at Rose Issa Projects, London (2009); “Intransit 08: Singularitieseinmaligkeiten”, Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin (2008); “Biennale Cuvée”, OK Offenes Kulturhaus, Linz, Austria (2008); “L’Art au Feminin”, Musée National d’Art Moderne et Contemporain d’Alger, Algeria (2008); “About Time 2”, Kunsten Museum of Modern Art Aalborg, Denmark (2007); “Fleeing Away From What Bothers You Most”, Magasin 3 Stockholm Konsthall, Sweden (2007); “Sharjah Art Museum”, Art Cologne, Germany (2005); “Fantasies of the Harem”, Centre de Cultura Contemporania de Barcelona, Spain (2003); "In weiter Ferne, so nah: Neue palästinensische Kunst”, IFA Gallery, Berlin (2002); and “Williamsburg Bridges Palestine”, New York (2002). She has also participated in Biennales in Sharjah (2007) and Sydney (2006).
In 2000 Saadeh was awarded the “Young Artist of the Year” prize by the AM Qattan Foundation, Ramallah.
Her work is in the permanent collections of the Victoria & Albert Museum, London; Fonds Regional d’Art Contemporain de Lorraine, Metz, France; Magasin 3 Stockholm Konsthall, Sweden and Le Magasin, Grenoble, France.
