Permanent Breakfast

Permanent Breakfast: Central Station, 24 June 2006
Permanent Breakfast, Zurich — On June 24, 2006 «stadt.labor» organised for the first time in Switzerland a «permanent breakfast»: the concept consists in inviting four or more persons for a breakfast in the public urban space. The invited people would do the same one or two week ends later. This initiative is conceived as reaction to the recent city policy of keeping away disturbing individuals from city centres. Additionally, «permanent breakfast» aims at revitalising urban spaces.

Permanent Breakfast: Wiedikon Station, 8 July 2006
The «stadt.labor» was created in November 2003 as an answer of the civil society to the official city planning policy in Zurich. It offers a communication, networking and action platform for citizens, organizations and marginalized groups (squatters, drug consumers, immigrants, homeless etc.), who are discontented with the official policy or aggressive profit oriented capitalist city planning. The «stadt.labor» aims at promoting alternative strategies of urban development based on solidarity and sustainability.
